Takagi's goal in slow motion. Class.

Full shootout. Sorry Iwashita, but that was a crap penalty. Just boot the bloody thing as hard as you can! Aaaaah, not blaming anyone. Penalty shootouts are not football. You may as well just play janken.

wow this was our easiest chance to win the cup with all the big guns getting themselves knocked out in comic fashion..and we somehow managed to screw it up!!! dont know why we struggle to beat Cerezo this year!!

Hi Barry

Unfortunately we lost but I suppose penalty kicks are the worst thing of soccer and we don't do anything about it.
Dear Barry! Could you please do me a favor? Most of us, Iranian, pay much more attention to the result of a game rather than to the quality of our team and its progress over time. So, after such a loss we become more disappointed than it should. I really appreciate it, if you could something about your analysis on Shimizu and Ghotbi this year. A couple of weeks ago, you kindly wrote such an analysis and I really enjoyed it and translated it into Persian and let my friend read it, but I'm sure that if you yourself write it on our Facebook page, it has much more effect. Sorry for the request and if, by any reason, couldn't do that, it'll be OK of course. The URL of our Facebook page is as follows:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/هواداران-افشین-قطبی-و-شیمیزو-اسپالس/107773742651819?ref=tn_tnmn
and it's it shortened form:
http://on.fb.me/u1LVUD
Surely, you can write in English, most of us will understand it and I also translate it into Persian for the rest.
Thanks a lot

Bloody penalties. Can't really act too hard done by as we beat Yamagata on penalties in last year's 1/4 final, but yso closely. I'll be writiou may as well just toss a coin. It ain't football, is it?

There was no live coverage of this game on TV so I was in the dark too, but it looks like he got taken off early after getting a knock. But he was walking fine after the game so looks like nothing too seriously. He's got three months until the new season anyway. ;)

I'm really glad to hear people are following Ghotbi's progress over here. I plan on writing something of a season review over the next week as I'll have some time before new year. In a nut shell, it's been a roller coaster but we're moving in the right direction. I believe that.

Barry..well its more the frustration on losing out what can be said as the easiest chance to win the cup ..considering all teams left are beatable by us(we did the double over Urawa..Marinos drew twice i believe) and 2 J2 sides!! The ACL slot was there for the taking!

I feel your frustration. A lost chance, but we've struggled against Cerezo all year. We didn't lose this game over 120 minutes away from home, but penalties are just a lottery. It's taken the shine off my festive cheer this Christmas Day missing out on the semis and potential final. Gutted.

No worries! :) Wishing you very Happy Christmas and good new year, too! Next season it all comes together with Freddie helping to fire us to the league title. :)
