I do contest that the red card changed everything. It was harsh, too. The ref clearly has never been a player of the game. The second half had started well and it was set to be a decent half, but after that, 10 men wasn't going to have much of a chance versus the champions, and we fell apart. Damn, I need a beer.
I was at the game and I have to agree with you. S-Pulse almost looked like they might score a goal before the red card. They fell to pieces after that.
Should explain, I'm an Australian engaged to an ALT currently living in Shizuoka and she took me to the game today. It was my second S-Pulse game. As a Liverpool fan, it'll never top my experiences at Anfield but it's definitely better than anything in Australia. I noticed the kop flag which has a picture of The Specials on it and was trying to work out why. Googling lead me to your blog. Do you know why The Specials are on it?
Hi David, and thanks for stopping by! I work as an ALT as well, so I may well know your wife-to-be!
Anyway, glad to hear you're enjoying S-Pulse, even if the results have been pretty wretched. As for that flag, I can't say why they chose The Specials, but what a lot ultras groups here often do is just take any iconic imagery, be it Che Guevara or the Union Jack or whatnot and turn into a banner. Maybe the people who made The Specials are really into their ska, but equally possible is they thought the design was cool and just went with it!
They also often refer to the Serie A. I think it's the Japanese's favorite championship since Baggio came to play an all-star game during the 2000's. Or maybe it was even before.
Anyway, S-Pulse might be nearly good with 11 players, but why must they always wait to be led by one or two goals before starting playing correctly ?
Stay positive indeed. Got the 2013 shirt this morning and that might be the only good thing happening today.
ReplyDeleteThat game was so lame, it seriously frightens me. Takagi was pissed at 4-0, I think he was remembering all his goals from last year...

Followed you on twitter too.
